“Establish my steps and direct them by means of Your Word; let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” – Psalms 119:133 (AMP)

Lesson: Would you know who I am, and who I serve, if you followed my footprints? In today's lesson we will learn three important things that will make you think about:
• Am I serving God?
• Do I know His Word?
• Will my actions lead others to Christ?

Have you ever been to the beach and seen a set of footprints along the seashore? If you have, you probably have wondered who those prints belonged to. Someone was at the very same spot you were, before you arrived, but you will never know who it was. You can't tell much about that person by their footprints – except whether they were an adult or a child! As Christians, we need to make sure that we are serving God's house and His people, hiding God's Word in our hearts, and making sure others know who we are by where our footprints lead!

Think for a minute about what you did last week. There were some activities you had to do because your parents made you do them – like chores. Others you did because you wanted to – like spending time with friends. But did you do anything that God wanted you to do?

Okay, let's break your week down. You can count going to church as something God wants you to do, as well as reading your Bible. You can count praying and worship time also, but that isn't all God wants from us if we are truly serving Him. Let's use Jesus as an example. He told people about God, He did miracles, He healed the sick, and He obeyed God's commands and fulfilled His purpose. Did you witness to someone, pray for the sick, ask God to forgive your sins, or put others before yourself? If you did just a couple of the things I mentioned, you are heading in the right direction!

Now that you know how you can serve God more, let's find out about what the Bible says. In Psalms 119:133, it says, “Establish my steps and direct them by means of Your Word; let not any iniquity have dominion over me” (AMP). What this scripture is saying is: “Create the steps I should take, and instruct me which way I should go by reading Your Word (or Bible); help me to not make bad decisions, and do not let bad behavior control or rule me.” In order to do what is right, you must read the Bible to find out what God says is right and then memorize it so that you will make good choices every day. When you read your Bible, you learn more about God and the promises that He has made to you.

Most importantly, the way you act should always lead others to Christ. When other people see how well-behaved you are and how you are always doing the right thing, or when others may be pressuring you to do something you know is wrong, you will point the path towards Christ. When you don't use bad language, lie, cheat, or steal, you let others know whose footprints are left behind. Even when you are having a bad day and you keep a positive attitude, others will see that there is always hope when you know Christ. Lastly, when you are kind and put others before yourself, you will show them the love of Christ.

Next time you are at the beach and you see footprints in the sand, ask yourself: “Will the people who come here after me know that…
• I am serving God?
• I have His Word in my heart?
• Will these footprints lead them to God?”

Let me pray for you!
