This morning, as I came down the stairs to our kitchen, I thought I heard music. I soon discovered that it was the birds outside, singing and chirping loudly! I quickly told my husband, "Open the windows; I want to hear the music of the birds!” Song of Solomon 2:11-12 says, “For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over, and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; and the time of the singing of birds is come....” (KJV).

This is a season of warm breezes, the smell of flowers blooming, birds chirping, and children playing and laughing outside! I am always so thankful for this season after a long winter. Colorado’s winter was very long this year, and the hope for spring and summer has been greatly anticipated. It is a time to throw open the windows and let the sun shine in! It feels so refreshing to let the crisp air breeze waft its way through the house and shove the winter out the door!

All of this beauty paints clearly what God does in our personal lives as He takes us out of a cold winter season into a season of spring time, with renewal and refreshment! Life brings heartache and loss, and we often feel like we are buried under a cold blanket of snow that will never melt. We can feel cold, hurt, and very alone. Sometimes a “winter season” will last longer than we ever desire. It can make us feel as though God has forgotten us or that He isn’t hearing our cries. We become “numb” as the cold freezing circumstances of life seem to envelop us. It can make us question everything we have ever believed in and thought to be real. Yet, underneath this bitter cold time are seeds of HOPE that are waiting to bloom in our lives!

HOPE is waiting patiently for the touch of our Savior’s hand to warm our heart and life. Just one touch of the Master’s hand can begin to turn our lives from below-zero-days to 72 degrees, with a slight warm breeze brushing over our souls, minds, and bodies! As better days begin to take place (little by little!) and we once again see the manifestation of God’s presence in our lives, our hearts begin to quicken with anticipation for the new season....the spring! HOPE pushes its way through the dark cold season of winter, and we feel the change of seasons taking place. Little by little, day by day, HOPE sprouts through and blooms into beautiful FAITH – faith for better days, faith for our lives making sense and being made whole, faith for our families, faith for our finances, and faith that God is with us and for us! We finally believe that He is making a way where there has seemed to be no way. He is on our side, and He is for us!

I am believing that this is true for your life! I believe that God is making a way for you! He hasn’t left you! He is with you! I smell the beautiful flowers of spring time blooming some FAITH into your life once again! Open your heart’s window and let the warmth of His Spirit touch your broken heart, like a warm breeze on a sunny day. He wants to move your winter soul into springtime with Him! The time is now! I hear the birds singing...for YOU!
